Many homeowners who have renovated their properties frequently complain about uneven paint colours, patchiness, or visible touch-up marks on their walls.
In fact, these issues are most likely caused by carelessness on the part of the decorator during the painting process. Therefore, when painting, it is essential to pay close attention to the following details:

1
Preparation.
Apply masking tape to protect door and window frames, furniture, and paintwork junctions. Seal finished wooden cabinets, shelves, and similar furnishings with newspaper to prevent paint drips from staining them.
2
Tinting.
For walls requiring colour, accurately calculate the surface area beforehand and apply paint evenly in a single coat. Apply primer to prevent moisture seepage, ensure even topcoat colour, and guard against water stains caused by wood acids.
3
Rolling technique.
Sequence for applying finish paint: Ceilings and mouldings first, followed by walls. Walls require at least two coats. The first coat may be diluted with 5% to 10% water to aid absorption. The second coat must not be diluted and should be applied after a suitable interval. When rolling, use both coarse and fine roller brushes simultaneously. Apply the coarse roller first, followed immediately by the fine roller. Use the coarse roller to spread the paint evenly across the wall, then re-roll the fine roller over the coarse roller's path to achieve a smooth finish and create the desired pattern.
4
Brush configuration.
Employ brushes to refine paintwork along wall edges and corners.
5
Sanding the walls.
Once the paint has dried, sand the surface with sandpaper to minimise brush marks and achieve a smoother finish. During sanding, periodically assess the wall's smoothness by hand to identify areas requiring further attention. Note: Use finer-grit sandpaper where possible. Thoroughly clean the walls after sanding.
6
Clean and inspect.
Remove paint marks from skirting boards and similar areas. Verify the wall colour meets design specifications and ensure uniformity across painted surfaces. Check for defects such as bleeding, brush marks, powdering, blistering, colour mismatch, or drips.
